Vibration Analysis Case Study: Recycling Plant
One of the most illustrative examples of our approach involved a recycling plant with soil sieving screens. These screens oscillated at a specific frequency, causing vibrations to propagate through the entire structure. The vibration issue was traced back to the anti-vibration (AV) mounts, which were stiffer than specified in the design, transferring vibrations from the screens to the frame.
By conducting a thorough vibration analysis in Abaqus and measuring the structural vibrations on-site, we identified the root cause and updated the finite element model to reflect the real-world conditions. We recommended a new AV mount design that decoupled the screen oscillations from the structure, significantly reducing vibrations and improving operational efficiency, and safety for the operators.
